Things we have dredged from our perception of reality are now dry and familiar. When we try to share them with others, something is lost. The vibrant, life-giving quality that we once beheld is now dim and cold and only a memory. We grip tenaciously to a singular evocation of a beloved moment and scream it loudly and ask no one to understand it. And yet, communion is sweet affirmation that we have lived something worthwhile.
